Steel Building Kits

Steel Building kits for new homes are becoming more popular as an eco alternative to traditionally built homes.

The kits have many advantages. Some of these advantages include quick construction times, they are easily expandable, durable, open plan and relatively cost effective. And can be bought off the shelf or they can be custom made.

Kits which can be bought off the shelf are usually designed to provide all the components you would get in a normal house.

Steel building kits have been used traditionally for buildings such as storage units and agricultural buildings it is only recently that they have been aimed for the residential market.

Steel kit homes can provide a great solution for new homes.

They have insulated panels which are integrated at the design stage to provide excellent thermal properties.

Good levels of insulation are achieved because steel can be formed in a closed environment using highly accurate machinery.

This results in buildings which have very tightly made junction details.

Once on site this prevents heat loss and provides controlled ventilation/air flow which enables steel buildings to be regulated and controlled so that energy consumption is kept to a minimum.

Steel homes are designed to utilize the space as effectively as possible they have open planned arrangements providing plenty of space for living areas and bedroom accommodation.

They can provide large open spaces for houses which are sometimes difficult to achieve when using masonry or timber frame structures.

Steel homes can be very attractive too, custom details can be designed in to create interesting architectural features and personal touches.

Another feature of a steel kit home is that they are very strong.

The structures can be designed to withstand high winds.

If you live in an area which is susceptible to high winds of hurricanes then a steel home is definitely worth considering.

As well as being very strong they are also resistant to water. Steel kits can be galvanized or zinc plated.
